This was the first time I decided to use a camera to understand the world around me better. I bought it a few months before I flew to Tehran, learning to use it by first photographing my friends at home.

I had for a long time already been interested in Iranian culture, and was skeptical of the narratives being presented to me about the nature of the countries population.

These images below are a strange mix of story-arcs. Of me understanding how to use a camera, discovering how much this device helped me connect with others, and learning about the tightrope walk the ever-burgeoning progressive population or Iran walks in the face of a violently oppressive regime.
