'AMY' explores the incoming motherhood of my dear friend, solo mother by choice, laughing into the storm to come.

By drawing the viewer in through the unrelenting and earth-shaking power of nature I aimed to emphasize the strength of human resolve, with her anonymity allowing my friend to stand for much more than just her own story.

These photos were captured in the first hour of the landfall of Storm Amy, an extratropical cyclone that hit the north of the Netherlands in October, and offer a contemplation on her decision to bring her young son into this world.
