Together with 23 residents of the asylum seekers center (ASC) in Amsterdam, I launched De Nieuwste Amsterdammer: the first mass media news platform operated from an ASC. A journalistic organisation built on a system of enablement, with our own digital and physical publication platforms.

The team of ASC residents were coached through individual tailored tracks by a team of 20+ experts, including 5 professional journalists from our country's biggest newspapers (a.o. NRC, De Volkskrant, Trouw) and 2 industry leading photographers (Robin de Puy and Jan Dirk van der Burg) in creating high quality journalistic content from their own perspective.​​​​​​​

The printed 'De Nieuwste Amsterdammer' launched on February 6, 2021 with a circulation of 50.000, delivered to 50.000 Amsterdam homes in a radius around the ASC. Funded through 300+ individual crowdfunding contributions and by selling print ads to 20+ organisations including The UN, Bezige Bij, Pakhuis de Zwijger, and more.

We were widely featured in the press (Parool, NH-Nieuws, Westkrant, and more) and were personally invited by Rob Jetten to present the project in the House of Representatives in Den Hague.
